As you might have heard, Vinyl floors in general are becoming a must have due to their durability and versatility.

You might be more familiar with the term LVT as opposed to RVP so just what is rigid vinyl plank flooring?

Rigid Vinyl Planks also known as stone plastic composite vinyl flooring (SPC) are luxury vinyl planks that has been engineered to combine limestone and stabilizers creating a floor with a durable core. Just like luxury vinyl floor tiles these are also waterproof.

Why choose Rigid Vinyl Planks?

  • TOLERANCE – You will be able to lay this in uneven areas as unlike Luxury vinyl tiles the surface does not necessarily have to be totally smooth. The thickness of the planks coupled with the pre attached underlay allows you to lay this on most subfloors.
  • ACOUSTIC – Most RVP vinyl flooring come with an underlay pre attached that can offer sound reductions of up to 19DB such as the Lalegno brand. The ones that do not come with pre attached underlays can still be used with underlays bought separately whereas this is not an option with standard Luxury vinyl tiles as there are glued down.
  • INSTALATION – These have taken into consideration that most customers are now more DIY savvy and prefer products there can install themselves thereby saving on installation cost. The board thickness makes them easy to handle, the floating method (click) means no glue involved. As the boards are more tolerable, you can usually get away with not having to carry out excessive preparations on the subfloor.
